Test shoot - experimenting

Me and Rafia experimented with filters and fast motion. We did this because we wanted  to see what kind of filters would be suitable for a 1950s feel for a music video.

Proctection - Analysis

(With Lacey and Rafia)

We thought the video could be part performance and part narrative.

The performance could be a band performing, in a small intimate gig like place. - But we thought the song would be a slow one so we thought it could be a slow gig, and the audience swaying in time to the music.
The narrative would be two people, a couple arguing in a dark room lit with some candles

. The woman  could shouting and looks like shes got the upper hand of the argument and the guy silently listening - This narrative bit would be muted with the song playing.

pitch

Song :      Letter - By Sylvia Ella Kesington

The song is about love and still loving that person but not being able to be with them and the struggle that comes with that.

The first line is "im writing you a letter"

1950s theme???
a Girl - Doing a narrative type of a music video. - the story is that the girl is at home in london, and her boyfriend is somewhere faraway. She misses him and they write to each other, but th distance makes a negative impact on their relationship and she's starting to feel the worst of that impact.

Ideas of the music video:

In a corner of her bedroom on a desk, the girl is on her desk reading a letter and crying. She puts the letter down and picks up a pen and (Music starts) starts to write a letter.

Our idea is that we would have some shots of her writing of different angles, some panning across a wall with old letter, envelopes and maybe some pictures.
We also thought that we might have some shots of the girl walking around some sights in london and on the tube. -
(If going with the 50s theme) - the girl would be dressed in an outfit from that era and be walking around London and maybe through some crowds of people and this would show the contrast of the public's clothing and the girl's would show.
Hoping this would denote as her being old fashioned with writing a letter about her feeling to whom she loves about a situation that made her cry, when these days people would call, or even more shockingly text their feelings about it.

We are planning on creating a slow paced video, with some long length clips to match the song which is a fairly slow acoustic song.

Set

We are currently creating the foundations of the set, havent yet made a plan for colours and what detail we are going to include but we have decided to cover the walls in " flowy material/net and to have a desk with some letters on the wall in front.

Pre Production - Planning and Building set plans

(not the pitch!! - just writing down our possible plans for a set)

Me and Rafia have decided that the majority of the music video will be at a desk with pictures and letters pinned onto a wall in front of it.
We've decided to create a set in the attic in my house. - The only problem being that its extremely messy and dusty there. So then I thought i might as well begin slowly creating a space for the set so to get more of a visual understanding of what we can and cannot do.
I have taken some pictures and will continue to create the set and document my progress on this blog.

When i first climbed up the ladder to the attic. And the half i wanted to use was a complete mess.

cleared up most of it and thought this part would be a good place to create the set. also found a big white board...(i think its part of an old desk?) - make it stand to use as a wall piece for the set - and  the rug (rolled up leaning against the wall) on the floor.
Also found some new cream, beige and brown cushions in bags..and since the rug is also cream and white i thought it could a colour theme we may just look into later...

On the floor i laid bin bags and taped them down so i could then place a rug I found on top - because my mum wasnt keen on me using a rug thats hardly been used being placed onto the attic floor which is still a mess after me trying to clean it for hours.

Found working sockets right at the place we need it - this way we can plug in some "fairy lights" we were hoping to use to create "corner of a bedroom" set.

That is all i did today, later this week im going to tackle the ledges (the logs of wood holding up the roof) and put boards infront of them and figure out how to keep them in place so to create a corner set and to also hunt down the old net curtains and lights to drape on top of them.
