Pitch for ideas for music videos
This is the back up artist in case the signed band's manager says a definite no - he's being an arse and isnt being clear on his decision so this is a back up, cause i have some doubt he'll pull through.
Since the band is Camden based, though it would be good idea to have Dion, the singer to walk around Camden having her singing.
And some of her in a coffee shop drinking black coffee looking out, writing poetry, because thats what she does ...
Another "just in case'' song is by Jodie, i have asked her on Facebook, no reply yet.

Finding Artists/Bands
Verbal conversations
A friend of mine knows a band that is already signed, Exit Ten. They have a contract that is lenient and allows them to create music videos with them with a lot of control. I talked to one of the members and got the contact details of their manager.
The call with the manager was okay, we talked about their contract and how they could do what they want in music videos but it had ' to be run past the company and the manager'.
So i said that i was willing to instead of making a narrative video i could make one of the band performing their song in a recording studio and also some shenanigans and put it together for a more relaxed video and its definitely something i could if quality was something the company was going to worry about
But then he said he would rather have a director with some experience in the field rather than have a 'high school media studies enthusiast' but will try to contact me in a few weeks.
He seemed like an actual arse.
I contacted two of the members of the band that i knew and they said we could just make the video but there was a risk of me being in deep trouble with their company if i used their song.
So i decided to have a back up in case the stupid manager leaves me hanging.
Contacted Rhi about a band she knew

TYPES OF MUSIC VIDEOS.
THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF MUSIC VIDEOS : PERFORMANCE, NARRATIVE, CONCEPT.
PERFORMANCE:
This type of music video has the band/artist performing the song. It can be very minimal and very focused on the artist. Where the performance is held varies on the type of artist, eg a rap artist may set this type of music video in a recording studio whilst a rock band may record their performance at a gig.
Some examples,
This video was fan made,- put together lots of different fan videos of gigs and tour shenanigans. But because of the popularity of the video and that there was no video made for this song, the record company used this as the official video for the song.
NARRATIVE:
Narrative music videos show a story. It could be the personal story of the artist/band or could be a narrative story of a view they believe in.
some examples,
CONCEPT:
This type of music video is based on an idea/thought. Could be based on political, thoughts on current affairs, and their own beliefs on other things.
Some examples
This could also be narrative ^
This is a hard one to find..so many have concepts already with the narrative combined.

Homework - music video analysis.
Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters is in his car stuck in traffic and is looking around. He sees lots of car bumper stickers and shows signs of disgust and annoyance when he sees them.
The ideology behind it in this scene shows some disapproval of the leadership and political aspect of Bush.
Whilst still stuck in traffic, a child in a car with a bumper stick saying "Coexist" (shown earlier) is swearing at Dave Grohl and at this he raises his eyebrow, sighs and looks away.
The narrative of the MV is of D Grohl beign annoyed at everything as he is stuck in one place in traffic.

He then abandons his car and leaves with only his guitar. He tries calling someone on the phone,
at the same time the lyrics are
"A million miles a way, you signal in the distance"
at the same time his phone battery is dead and he chucks it over the bridge.
After throwing away hi phone, he tries using a phone box but inside the phone is removed and replaced by an advert for a monthly pay as you go mobile phone. Again he becomes annoyed and pushed the phone box onto the floor.
The narrative so far shows his annoyance with everything. In this scene he orders food from a fastfood place and shows his disappointment in with the quality of the food and that it does not match the description of the picture on the display.
The lyrics dont match the video entirely. "Learning to walk again" does fit in with the scenes of Dave walking and looking around and being annoyed with thing, but other than that it shows a lighter, humorous side of the way society is and the way it is being led.
But as many Foo Fighters music videos, they are funny and dont fit the song entirely, but do take in some things and they also show a different meaning in the video.
